The Problem Gambling Foundation (PGF) supports the need for the development of an effective and caring public health policy for the introduction, maintenance and regulation of gambling in New Zealand. PGF advocates the need to separate regulation from enforcement and policy, and the need for an independent commission.
The Foundation supports the rights of local government and its citizens to have a say in the type and quantum of gambling in their community and the need for independent research in this area. The PGF regularly presents these concerns, supported by evidence, to Select Committees of Parliament, Committees of Inquiry, the Casino Control Authority and other committees, and to political parties, legislative bodies, media and other informative organisations.
PGF is committed to raising awareness about the harm that can result from gambling in New Zealand.
